Alumni Mail

The Alumni Association has revised its policy on Alumni e-mail addresses. Because a) e-mail addresses change quite frequently, and, b) spamming has become a problem and the Association does not want to contribute to unwanted e-mail, we will no longer post alumni e-mail addresses on this web site. We will continue to gather alumni e-mail addresses and will maintain a data base of addresses. If a classmate, for good reason, wants to check on an e-mail address he/she may send a request to Bill McGahan and if the address is on file we will forward it to you.

2007 REUNION JULY 6TH-8TH

Make plans now to attend the 2007 St. Patrick Alumni Association Reunion. The reunion will begin with Friday evening activities for the honored classes (those Class years ending in "7" or in "2"). If classmates need mailing lists or other information they should contact the school at: wmcgahan@esu16.org

GRRRRRREAT REUNION!!

The honored classes of 2006 turned out in excellent numbers and helped make this year's reunion one of the best ever. By the 5:30 start of the social hour nearly two dozen alumni and guests were already in line and there was a constant stream of classmates for the next two hours. The final count of two hundred and fifty for dinner was the best in several years. An additional twenty or more appeared after dinner for the social and dancing time.

The weekend started Friday evening with individual class gatherings around the city and at the lake. Saturday morning eighteen quartets of golfers set off from the North Platte Country Club at 8:00 for a "best ball" golf outing. From 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. the schools and Endowment office were open for visitors. There was good participation in all of these activities.

A highlight of Saturday's banquet was the presentation, to Martin Cordes, of the second annual Ursuline Sisters' Service Award. Cordes was recognized for his forty years of service to St. Patrick's school and church community. Cordes has taught biological science, social science and, in recent years, theology at St. Pats. He has also served as assistant administrator, McDaid principal, and currently as head of the middle school program. It was a most appropriate recognition for his many years of generous involvement with the school and its students. Endowment Director JoAnn Windholz made the presentation.

Dr. Jeff O'Connor, a member of the Endowment board also gave a brief report on current projects at the school, including the construction of a new kindergarten facility to address the needs created by the new all day kindergarten.

Bill McGahan introduced all of the classmates in attendance at the banquet.

The reunion continued until nearly 1:00 a.m. with music and singing courtesy of Papioke, owned and generously shared by fellow classmate Patrick Worrell. A fine time was had by everyone from 1946 to 1996 ... a great 2006 reunion!

ALL DAY KINDERGARTEN BEGINS

McDaid Elementary introduced a new all-day kindergarten program for 2006-07. The kinders are currently housed in the McDaid Music Room and the Kindergarten room.

Construction is nearing completion on a new facility with two kindergarten rooms and an activity area. The new building is just south of the McDaid playground, and is being provided through the generosity of Dr. Jeff Brittan and his wife, Connie, who own the property.

Superintendent Bill McGahan told The Shamrock, "We are very excited about the expanded day. It corresponds with current thinking about early childhood learning. And the enrollment of over forty kinders clearly demonstrates parents wanted the program. We are grateful to the Brittans for making it possible."

Teri Volesky and Kathy Haman have both accepted full-time teaching roles this year to handle the transition to the full day schedule.
